I'm pleased to announce creation of the iRODS Digital Archive Working Group. This will be the first topic-specific iRODS working group, with more to follow.
The working group will be creating an iRODS-based reference implementation of a digital archive. This is a forum for members to contribute their opinions about what features and structure the implementation should
have, with the eventual outcome of code, templates, documents, a cookbook, VM images, and any other materials that would help someone begin to set up a digital repository using iRODS.
We have brought together a core group of experts to begin the conversation:
Jeremy Frumkin, University of Arizona Libraries
Dave Pcolar, Digital Preservation Network
Chris Jordan, Texas Advanced Computing Center
Matthias Grawinkel, Everbit and University of Mainz
We are working to schedule an introductory Google Hangout next week. I will post details here and on the new Google Group once scheduled.
If you're interested in participating, please register with the Google Group. Please recommend others to the group as well.
Thank you,
Dan Bedard
